ANNOUNCEMENT

The Green Bicycle Co. is looking for engaging high school students who are interested in working on our projects, gaining new and building on existing skills, and helping improve cultural community investment in Sheboygan. There will be opportunities to collaborate with various organizations and expand your network, as well as creating a plan to achieve personal and professional goals. Our purpose for this internship is to offer an opportunity that enables you to learn and grow, while also teaching and working with us to build sustainable, conscious communities.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Join GBC team in Phase 2 of cultural asset mapping

    • Assist in event planning

    • Outreach to youth groups and organizations

    • Develop ongoing engagement and inclusion with youth

    • Maintain organized documentation of work and development

  • Liaison for community governance and structure

    • Attend and participate in government meetings (e.g., Common Council or other committees and commissions)

    • Communicate key ideas and plans from meetings to GBC team

    • Help to connect youth groups and organizations with current issues and opportunities in our local government and community

  • Assist in Green Bicycle Co retail space

    • Stock and organize inventory

    • Create promotional materials using Canva

    • Maintain a welcoming shop atmosphere

  • Set personal goals

    • Document reasoning for wanting to participate, what skills wanting to learn, and any changes you would like to see, lead, or be a part of

    • Continuous log of ideas, growth, new skills, and next steps

    • Used for potential credit and internal change over time

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Current high school student in Sheboygan, WI

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Highly organized

  • Self-starter, takes initiative

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in-person and remotely, in a professional office environment, and in the community. All project work will be stored on a shared drive, e.g., Google Drive. Intern will need access to a laptop and the internet - we will ensure this is possible.

POSITION DETAILS

  • Position: Green Bicycle Internship

  • Reports to: President, Heather Cleveland

  • Direct Reports: None

  • Start Date: September 20, 2021 or ASAP

  • Employment Terms: Part-time (~5 hours/week); September 2021 – May 2022

  • Salary: $10 per hour

  • Benefits: Flexible work schedule, mentoring, and opportunities to learn

  • School Credit: School credit is available through Inspire Sheboygan collaboration
