Join us! Edit: business owners, organizations, and the community are welcome!
Several business owners and non-profits are organizing "Mr. Wendal's Collaboration" to better understand the resources available and best practices to engage unhoused people with dignity and share resources. The event will include three parts: training video, panel discussion, and sharing a resource guide.
Training Video:
"Homeless De-Escalation 101 Workshop" by Ryan Dowd
The Homeless De-Escalation 101 Workshop provides a concise analysis of how to approach varying situations that individuals, businesses, and service providers may experience when working with someone experiencing homelessness. Creator Ryan Dowd offers technical guidance by showing a few scenarios and scholarship from his own experience as an Executive Director for a low - barrier homeless shelter in Chicago.
Panel Discussion:
Leaders from Sheboygan Salvation Army, Lakeshore Community Action Program (CAP) and Sheboygan Police Department will provide an overview of resources available in our community and answer questions.
Unhoused Resource Guide:
An Unhoused Resource Guide that includes information on shelters, pantries, community meals, showers, laundry, and other resources to help people in need. This guide is intended to be available digitally and updated regularly.
RSVPs are encouraged (link) but not required. The room does have a capacity, and RSVPs will be honored first.
With love and compassion,
