Internship Opportunity: Neighborhood Development Project

Green Bicycle Co. is partnering with Sheboygan County Health and Human Services on a project that focuses on bringing together agencies, stakeholders, and neighbors to create measurable and meaningful impact in selected neighborhoods, empowering and strengthening residents and reducing reliance on emergency services in Sheboygan, WI. We aim to apply systems thinking and community engagement to transform methodologies for identifying core problems. We are seeking engaging students who are interested in working on this project, gaining new and building on existing skills, and helping shift the current reactive approaches to a proactive model in Sheboygan.

There will be opportunities to collaborate with various organizations and expand your network, as well as helping create a new way for understanding, assessing and addressing systemic issues throughout the communities within the city of Sheboygan. Our purpose for this internship is to offer an opportunity that enables you to learn and grow, while also collaborating and working with us to build sustainable, conscious communities.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Preliminary and ongoing project research

  • Data and information gathering and organization

  • Networking and engagement; collaborating with students, student groups, and community members; attend stakeholder committee meetings

  • Data analysis; story telling; systems mapping

  • Report writing; note taking; outreach and marketing

  • Interacting and partnering with diverse people and communities

  • Set personal and professional goals

Education and Experience

  • Current (2023-2024) high school and college students in Sheboygan, WI

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Highly organized, self-starter, takes initiative

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Work Environment

This job operates in-person and remotely, in a professional office environment, and in the community. All project work will be stored on a shared drive, e.g., Google Drive. Intern will need access to a laptop and the internet - we will ensure this is possible.

Position Details

  • Position: Green Bicycle Internship

  • Reports to: President, Heather Cleveland

  • Direct Reports: None

  • Start Date: June 2023

  • Employment Terms: Part-time (~5 hours/week); June 2023 – December 2023

  • Salary: $10 per hour

  • Benefits: Flexible work schedule, mentoring, and opportunities to learn

  • School Credit: School credit is available through Inspire Sheboygan collaboration
